10th Grade Career Day
Career Day Expectations
Previous to career day, I expected to gain a lot of knowledge from the person I was shadowing and I knew I was going to see exactly what situations and scenarios came with this job. I expected for meetings to be attended and jobs to be fulfilled with clients, including sound engineering and music production. Then, I expected most of the day to be dedicated towards working on ensemble music and music engineering. Overall, I expected to see decision-making skills and get insightful information about self-confidence, business ethics, and teamwork required for success in a professional work environment. Also I expected to learn how I would incorporate my academic knowledge learned in class to a professional work environment.
Interview Questions
I learned a lot from the interview, however I know in the future I can definitely apply and use this resourceful and subsequent information for this career in the future. I learned that my shadow person at, AVLI Music Productions, started playing piano at three to sixteen, and started shadowing/ orchestrating eight/nine ensembles at eighteen/nineteen years old consisting of rock, pop, and jazz. Then, I learned for his career, he majored in music engineering and films scoring, and from his entire life he has been studying music theory for training (twenty five years). He said his specific skill training consists of mentoring with other musicians and getting a major in music engineering. Also, studying music theory, and learning to orchestrate by collaborating with orchestras. One thing that stood out, out of the innumerable facts I learned was, its always beneficial and crucial for any collaboration or meeting you go to, you should abandon your ego and always be open to learn something new from another apprentice. He found his work to be very fulfilling and I understand exactly why he finds his job everyday enticing. Therefore, he said he hasn't taken a vacation since two years ago.
"There's always more to learn, always more to try and invent within yourself."
An insane amount of discipline, time management, and modesty is very important to obtain a professional image and reputation in careers. Especially when you strive to be a credible entrepreneur and earn a good image towards other clients and companies.
A Reflection On the Day
I learned a lot of insightful information from my shadow and after interviewing the person I was shadowing, I learned about n necessary educational background needed, skills and morals required, and what their life consists of from this job. These will be super resourceful in my career and life because I will know how to approach others in my career and how to have amazing credibility. Also I learned how important and crucial time management is because your clients want to have someone that's reliable and credible with there work.
